Kindergarten Music, October 2025

We begin each class with Super Quiet Uninterrupted Listening Time, or SQUILT. In September, kindergarten students were able to listen silently for one minute. I can’t wait to see how long they can listen in the month of October! Our composer of the month for October is Austrian composer Franz Schubert.

This month, Kindergarteners are continuing our work learning about our 5 different voices - speaking, singing, whisper, shouting, and inside (mental) voices. In September, we learned the echo song No More Pie, singing the responses together as a group. Now students are beginning to echo independently, singing by themselves in front of the class. We are wrapping up our work with Peep Squirrel, our first song students are singing without support from me (singing the whole song without echoing me), and are beginning our next song, Pitter Patter. We will be exploring keeping a steady beat by playing egg shakers and the hand drum, practicing playing the instruments safely. We will also be learning a new dance called Sally Go Round the Sun.
