Kindergarten Music, December 2025
This month, students are listening to the music of Leroy Anderson. We are working on sharing our opinions of each piece of music by politely showing a thumbs up or thumbs down after we listen. Students have been doing a great job of listening to two minutes of music silently!
Our echo song at the moment is The Moose Song, which some students may have already heard at summer camps or from other sources. We will practice echoing each phrase together as a class, and then take turns echoing phrases one person at a time. Students recently had the opportunity to sing the song Pitter Patter independently, and are growing in their skills as both performers and audience members. We are continuing our work with the song Fais Dodo, preparing to sing that independently in January, and we are about to begin a new song called Frog in the Meadow.
We are continuing our study of our speaking, singing, whisper, shouting, and internal voices with the rhyme Wee Willie Winkie, with which we are playing a game. For our movement to classical music, we are now using the third movement of Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 in D Major. As we head into the holiday season, we will also begin exploring Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker.
