Grade 2 Music, October 2025

As students continue to expand their listening and observation skills with Super Quiet Uninterrupted Listening Time, our musician for the month of October is the Austrian composer Franz Schubert. Our poet for the month is the German poet Goethe, and we will be exploring Schubert’s setting of his poem Der Erlkonig, in addition to a few of his other works.

This month we are continuing our work with Oh, How Lovely, singing it as a round and working with the rhythms used in the song. We are also learning the song I Am the Song by Susan Reed. Students will practice folk dancing safely and being polite dance partners as we continue dancing Alabama Gal. If students demonstrate that they are able to follow directions safely, we will work on maintaining a steady beat with the game Pass the Witch’s Broomstick.
