Franz Schubert

October Musician of the Month

For the month of October, we will be listening to music by Franz Schubert. Schubert was an Austrian composer who lived from 1797-1828. He was a prolific composer despite his short lifespan, writing over 600 German art songs in addition to symphonies, operas, chamber works, and piano pieces. Schubert began studying the violin with his father at the age of 5, and learned the piano from his older brother, although he surpassed both of their abilities very quickly. He was also recognized for his singing abilities as a child.
